adding add-ons to Arma2
After creating the folders and placing the .pbo files, instead of editing the shortcut or having to have various shortcut for different modfolders, we can use one of the arma launchers created by the community. For example the Arma launcher by Kegetys. (Other launchers can be found in this section: ArmA2 Misc&Utilities)
We start the launcher and first we have to select where we have the arma.exe file. We do this by clicking on "change" and pointing the program to our installation folder.
Once we do that in Options --> Options we can mark Skip splash screens so we don't launch the intro movies.
Now we have to add the mod(s), we go to Options --> Mods and we add the mod as its shown on the pic.
NOTE6: Check that the Mod directory name must be the same as the one we created, the other is just a name for reference.
And finally we have to launch the game on Single or Multiplayer, but first we have to select what mod we wanna launch by checking the box close to the mod name.
With the launcher we can also add any server and select what folders we want to use when we join that server, just go to Options --> Servers and fill the boxes with the required info.

Backing up your Arma2 Game directory.
there are a couple of ways to do this.
you can manually just copy and paste the directory
you can create a simple batch file to do this for your. If you do a lot of modding and freck went changes with add-on I would look at getting a backup of the game files.
thats you call though
good luck had have fun
you can manually just copy and paste the directory
- go to the game directory (default is c:\program files\bohemia interactive\arma 2) copy the Arma2 folder
- create a new directory i like to put it on an external or a diff partion or diff internal drive but if you don't have that option you can just create a directory off the root of C: (c:\game backups\Arma2)
- just paste the contents from the game directory to the game backups folder of you choice
you can create a simple batch file to do this for your. If you do a lot of modding and freck went changes with add-on I would look at getting a backup of the game files.
- so first you will need to open notepad (start, run, type notepad)
- type
- @echo off
cls
xcopy "c:\program files\bohemia interactive\arma 2" "c:\game backups\arma 2" /e/c/h/f/k/y
echo Arma 2 Game directory has been backed up >> "c:\game backups\arma 2.log"
echo Arma 2 Game directory has been backed up
pause - go to file save as
- name the batch file arma2 backup.bat
- so what this batch file does is copies the game directory like method 1 (manual backup) but does it with just a double click
- what i have also added in to the batch file is a log file output that will be created every time you run the batch file. it will be stored in the c:\game backups directory

The links are below for all of the content with in this posting.
****< I recommend Backup up your Arma2 game directory >****
So once you have downloaded the launcher for Arma2 to your computer it will be compressed. You will need a compression tool to unpack the launcher. I use 7zip. link provided below. Then run the .exe file that gets unpacked (ArmA II Launcher.exe).
You will be asked to locat the Arma2.exe file with in you game directory.
By Default the game directory is c:\program files\bohemia interactive\arma 2
This is the configuration of the Arma 2 Launcher the settings that are set in this screen shot above are the current settings that i run on my Rig.
Here is the server list page. You can have a filter to remove sertin items from showing in the server list.
